Build your profile
A checklist walks you through it: about you, your certification and background, the subjects and grades you teach with a rate for each, your weekly hours, the link to your meeting room, and a photo. You can stop and come back.
Send it for review
Our team checks your American Board certification and reads the profile. We approve it, or send it back and say what is missing.
Families find and book you
Once approved, you appear in search. A family picks one of your open times and pays; the lesson appears in your list of lessons and you both get an email. Families can message you with questions before they book.
Teach, and get paid
Open the lesson from your lesson page, teach, and mark it complete. You are paid once the family’s 48-hour window for reporting a problem has passed.
Who does what
You teach and decide your own terms. We bring the families and handle the money.
You decide
- Your rateAn hourly rate for each subject you teach.
- Your hoursWeekly availability that you can change at any time.
- What you teachThe subjects and grades you are comfortable with.
- Your classroomYour own Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams or Whereby room.
- How much you take onOne lesson a week or a full timetable.
We handle
- Finding familiesYour profile in search, by subject, grade, day and price.
- BookingOpen times in each family’s own time zone, with no double bookings.
- PaymentThe family pays when they book. You never chase an invoice.
- RemindersEmails to both sides before each lesson.
- Refunds and disputesFixed rules, applied the same way for everyone.
The rules worth knowing first
Better to read these now than to find them out after a lesson.
- Our fee
- AB Tutors keeps a share of each lesson price as its fee. The rate will be published on this page before any tutor is asked to accept bookings.
- When you are paid
- After the lesson is complete and 48 hours have passed without a reported problem. If a problem is reported, payment waits for our team’s decision.
- Join through the lesson page
- Always open a lesson with Join lesson. It records that you were there, which is what lets you mark the lesson complete and what protects you if a family says you were absent.
- If you cancel
- The family is refunded in full, whenever you cancel. Cancel as early as you can.
- If the family cancels late
- Less than 24 hours before the lesson, the family gets 50% back and the rest counts as your earnings for the time you kept, less our fee.
- If the learner does not turn up
- Wait 15 minutes, then report the learner as absent. The lesson is paid as if it had taken place.
- Keep it on AB Tutors
- Lessons, messages and payments with families you meet here stay here. That is what the refund rules and your payment protection depend on.
