Why certified teachers

Anyone can call themselves a tutor. Knowing a subject and being able to teach it to a twelve-year-old who has decided they hate it are different skills, and a parent has no easy way to check for the second one.

American Board certifies teachers by examining them twice: once in the subject they will teach, and once in how to teach. AB Tutors lists only teachers who hold that certification, and we check it before a profile appears. You are choosing among people who have already been tested on the thing you are paying for.

What we left out on purpose

Subscriptions and packages

You pay for one lesson. If it helped, book another. A service that is useful does not need to lock you in.

Accounts for children

A parent or guardian holds the account and we ask only for a child’s first name and grade. The less we hold about a child, the less there is to protect.

An open door for tutors

A teacher cannot list themselves. Our team reviews each profile and approves it first.

Promises about grades

No tutor controls a test score, so we do not advertise one. What we can promise is who teaches the lesson and what happens to your money if it does not take place.

Who runs it

AB Tutors is operated by Kprise LLC, which runs the website and the booking service, takes payment for lessons and pays tutors. Tutors set their own rates and hours.

We are new and not yet taking bookings. There are no numbers or quotes from families on this site because there are none yet to show; when there are reviews, they will come from families who had a lesson.
